Weight Loss Coaching

Weight-Loss-CoachingWeight loss should be easy, shouldn’t it?  If you can do maths you can lose weight. All you have to do is to burn up more calories than you consume:  energy in/energy out. Easy!  Yeh right!!!

There is an unlimited supply of diet books on the market, slimming organisations, exercise books, gyms and equipment.  You can’t turn on the morning TV programs without a new piece of equipment promising to trim your abs, smooth your butt or help you lose 2 kgs in the Ad break.

Weight Loss Coaching is not about giving you a diet to follow or telling you what to eat or what not to eat.  It’s not about working out an exercise program.  Weight Loss Coaching is not about lining up to get weighed in each week. Good eating chooses and regular exercise is important.  Most of us know what is good for us and what to avoid in the way of unhealthy eating.  We also know how important it is to do some form of exercise on a regular basis.

So, why is it so difficult to lose weight?  Sometimes life just gets in the way.  There are the challenges of meeting other peoples expectations, working long hours, studying, rushing from one task to another.  Not to mention socialising when we get a break.  It is so easy to fall into bad habits of eating on the run, grabbing fast food, relaxing with a glass of wine at night.  So if life is currently like running on a treadmill why aren’t you losing weight.  Sorry, wrong sort of treadmill.

Does your weight yo-yo up and down? You have been successful; you lose weight for a while then put it back on again.  Or you’ve tried everything and nothing happened. So what’s not working long term?  Maybe it’s time to rethink weight management and look at habits that really work for weight loss.  Weight Loss Coaching is not about a generic set of strategies – one size fits all.  Its about you, it’s about your own personal challenges, motivation, lifestyle, wants, needs and desires.

As part of the coaching relationship it is important to acknowledge any emotional resistance that comes up, work with limiting beliefs or saboteurs and overcome obstacles to weight loss that have been stopping you achieve your desired weight.
You set the goal of the weight you want to lose.  Together we build motivation and commitment to losing the excess weight healthily in line with you and your lifestyle, using weight loss coaching tools.  Weight Loss Coaching adds non judgmental and unconditional support and accountability to the commitments you make.  Together we formulate plans, develop habits that really work for your weight management, review progress and most importantly, celebrate the successes.  

The role of the Weight Loss Coach is to ask you key questions about motivation and readiness.  It takes commitment from you and the coach; it requires regular meetings – Initial meetings are for 1 hour and subsequent meetings may be for 1 hour or for 30 minutes.  1 hour sessions $97.00.  30 minute sessions $57.00.  For regular updates and support, weekly or fortnightly meetings usually work best.
