The Power of Purpose

Written by Linda James. Posted in Blog

The alarm shrills at 6.30 am. “Please be the weekend, please be the weekend” is the half awake plea. Consciousness kicks in along with the dreaded realisation - it’s a workday. It’s Wednesday morning. Not even past the mid weekhump. A groan from under the sheets as the depressing realisation hits – “I have my job. I hate everything about it. Time to check the vacancy column for a new job? But wait it will be the same old same old, because that what I’m skilled at. That’s what I do. That’s who I am.” It may be what you are skilled at and how you currently earn your living at, but it is not who you are. So many of us just fall into a type of work to earn a living, or maybe we were influenced by our teachers, parents or pier group. It’s secure, it safe, a regular pay cheque. Secure, safe and a regular pay cheque is good, but does it make your heart sing? Do you jump out of bed each morning really excited about the day? No! Maybe your’ not passionate about what you do - you are not living your life with purpose. “But I don’t know what I want to do with my life.”

But you do know. You do know what you are passionate about, what you really want to do with your life. If you did not have a purpose for your life, you would not be here on the planet at this time. Your purpose is not something that just appears today, it has been with you all your life. You have been acquiring the experience and skills you need to manifest your purpose. “But, how is being passionate about my work and living with purpose connected?” When you are living with purpose you are passionate about what you are doing. ‘How do I find out what my purpose and passion is?’ Start by going back to your earliest memories and map, from then until now, when you were most passionate about something, when you used to get lost in the moment, when you felt the happiest. Write them down. What was happening in your life? Then think about what makes you happiest today. Where do you spend most of your precious ‘my time’? What books do you read, programs or movies do you watch, what magazines do you regularly buy? What are the websites marked favourites on your computer? What are you doing when you totally lose yourself in a process? These are all clues. “But why do people not acknowledge this is their passion, their purpose?” There are many reasons, such as childhood programming, limiting beliefs acquired along the way, or the feeling that we are not good enough, or deserving enough. Mostly, it is because we do not believe we are worthy, or that we’ve been told that we can’t make a living out of doing what we really love; so we repress what we really want to do.

Do you realise that there will never be another person like you in the history of the universe? You are totally unique. You are more than worthy; it is your birthright to express your life with passion and purpose. As for making a living, who said that you have to immediately give up your day job. All passionate, purposeful and successful people started somewhere, and it was usually in a small way and with very little money. If you are really passionate about what you do you will love sharing and talking about your passion; and other people will want to hear about it. Many of the great people started out working in their garage or in a corner of the bedroom. Start small but dream big. “I’m getting inspired.”

The Importance of the body’s Subtle Energy System

Written by Linda James. Posted in Blog

ChakraYou may already be familiar with the eastern interpretation of the body’s Subtle Energy System, as the concepts are being more widely adopted by western societies.  Only fifteen or twenty or so years ago the words chakra and meridians, never mind nadis, were not part of our everyday western language.  Today, however, as a result of media coverage, a wider variety of wellbeing publications, and the choice of many more highly qualified and professional natural therapists and energetic healers, there is greater awareness and acceptance.

This is evidenced by the fast growing interest in America, Australia, the UK, and many other parts of the western world, in natural therapies and alternate ways of being.  People are starting to understand that there is more to us than just our physical body, and that the subtle energy system plays an important part in everyday energy levels and wellbeing.

What is interesting is the way the ancient traditions are now being more acknowledged by modern science, whereas in the past they were discounted because they could not be proven or verified.  Acknowledging now that energy, and our Body’s Subtle Energy System and Energy Healing, are a natural part of life.  So why did we lose that connection to our natural energy system?  What happened was, in the 17th century the sciences of physics, chemistry, astronomy and medicine began to emerge.  As this devotion to a mechanistic world began to grow, the individual sense of consciousness, belonging and connection to the universe began to diminish.

Just Ten Minutes a Day

Written by Linda James. Posted in Blog

antique-clock-faceThere are 24 hours in our day, which gives us 1440 minutes we have available to use. Everyone has the same amount of time, but each person chooses to use that time differently.  Like me, you have probably thought you were madly busy, with not a moment to spare.  Then maybe had to complete one of those time management schedules?  We get to the end of it and there is all this spare time left during and at the end of the day.  We scratch our head and try to figure what we have left out.  We may go back and revise the time spent on each activity.

That’s more like it we say to ourselves.  But, the day is still not full.  Ok, you ramp it up with activities that usually get done on other days.  By the time you have completed a 5 working day or a 7 day schedule there may be this block of time staring you in the face.  Not so we say. So what do we usually do? Throw the bit of paper in the bin and carry on the way we have always done, convinced that we really are the busiest person in the company, in our street, in our town, in the world etc. Or could we say: hey, there really could be time in my day to spend on me and my dreams and my life purpose.

Although the majority of things on our physical plane appear to be fixed or permanent, they are not. Nothing is fixed or rigid, it can and does change in an instant. Our physical plane is made up of energy; ebbing and flowing.  Energy bringing to us what we focus on, be that negative or supportive on a soul level.  Our reality is only true as at this moment. Everything we perceive is either of today or in the past.  It can be liberating and exciting to realize that tomorrow has not yet been created, and is still open to unlimited possibilities.  But it’s how we view the world that brings our reality.  We can liken it to having a clean palette and paints ready to create our own picture; our own master piece.  But to create we must live in the present, for it is only in the present that creation can take place.

Remembering your Life Purpose

Written by Linda James. Posted in Blog

path-choiceWithin us we have an inherent sense of purpose; of something to be fulfilled.  According to some schools of thought, we agreed our soul’s or life purpose, and the blueprint for this life, before we incarnated into this physical body.  If so, part of our soul’s learning on earth, at this time, is to re-connect to that purpose; to live with purpose. With purpose comes clarity, and with clarity comes an innate sense of belonging; belonging to something much bigger than ourselves and our normal daily life.

Somewhere along the way we may have forgotten who we are and what we are here to do and achieve.  It’s as if we have been living our lives half asleep, but now individually and globally we are starting to awaken to greater consciousness.  When we have clarity to our purpose we stop running on autopilot or trying to live to other peoples expectations; we are our true authentic self.

Our purpose is not something we learn, it’s not something we need to reinvent; it’s about remembering that we do have purpose and it’s what our soul came here to do.  Our purpose, our plan for this life, is in every part of our being: our body, mind, and soul. We are either living life on purpose or we are not; there are no half measures.  So when we begin to live our life on purpose it is the beginning of a transition and transformation that is not temporary, but a life long change. There is not just one right way or a wrong way: our purpose, our learning and lessons along the way are not rigid, but flexible and evolving.

You have already started on your life purpose journey; you started the moment you were born.  You may not have been conscious of it, but the signs were all there.  When you look back you can usually see how you came to be where you are today, and the skills, wisdom and insights you have learnt that support you with your purpose.  If you believe that the universe is not just random; that there is a plan, some sense to it, with some infinite organisation or supreme intelligence, then you know that everything in your life has a purpose.  Nothing in your life in the past happened by chance nor or is currently happening by chance.  If nothing is wasted, if there is no right or wrong, then everything adds value to your life, in some way. Each moment, in each day, brings an opportunity to learn and grow.  Once you become consciously aware that you are on your purpose journey, whether or not you understand at this point what that purpose is, you bring focus and intent to it, and focus and intent energise that which is being focused on.  And, as you bring focus to your purpose you get a greater sense and feeling of clarity. You start to tap into an unstoppable force within, creating real momentum and drive.

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy

Written by Purpose Fairy. Posted in Blog

be-happyHere is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?

2. Give up your need for control. Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.

“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

3. Give up on blame. Give up on your need to blame others for what you have or don’t have, for what you feel or don’t feel. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life.

4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk. Oh my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative, polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don’t believe everything that your mind is telling you – especially if it’s negative and self-defeating. You are better than that.

“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

5. Give up your limiting beliefs about what you can or cannot do, about what is possible or impossible. From now on, you are no longer going to allow your limiting beliefs to keep you stuck in the wrong place. Spread your wings and fly!

“A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind” Elly Roselle

Only 10 more things you should give up to be happy!
